Your credit score is what our banks and lending institutions will look at to determine if you qualify for an auto loan or lease. Many customers have told us they're unsure how their credit score is determined, and they're not alone.

There are many factors that go into determining your credit score, but the five most important are:

  • Payment history
  • How much of your available credit you're using
  • The average age of your credit history
  • How often you've applied for new credit
  • Your mix of credit types

What this means is that paying your bills on time, keeping your credit card balances low, not opening too many lines of new credit at once or closing long established ones, and keeping a good mix of revolving and installment accounts will -- over time -- yield an improved credit score.
